The Butterfly Effect
The Butterfly Effect (41.73 KB)
I went with a small group on Saturday night to see "The Butterfly Effect." I was mildly interested in seeing before I went, but I never thought I would enjoy it as much as I did. I thoroughly enjoyed it. I do feel awfully sorry for Ashton Kutcher, though. I've never seen a single episode of "That 70's Show," but going by the audience reactions, it's hard to take him seriously. That's really unfortunate because he really pulled off a very weird and twisted roll. Then again, the younger actors that also played his character did a wonderful job, as well.

The movie is all about what would happen if you could change certain moments in your life and make things turn out differently. It did a lot of focusing on the inherint risks involved in doing that, even when you have the best of intentions. It really could have been a very over-complicated storyline that was kept pretty simple, but not dummied down too much. It actually got me thinking quite a bit about my own life, specifically how different it would be if a few things were changed even just slightly. I'm sure that's not what they were going for (making you think, that is), but that's what it got me doing.

It has a little bit of "Back to the Future"-type flair to it, in that the main character is tinkering with his current surroundings by changing events in the past. The ripple effect of the changes he makes in "The Butterfly Effect" are more like effect waves. By simply changing one event, the course of several lives were forever altered... well, until he went back again.

If you like a good thriller, with very little gore (although you THINK you see a lot, you never do), this is a great movie. Like I said before, I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Classified Error
The following ads appeared in a newspaper over a period of four days, the last three hopelessly trying to correct the first day's mistake.

MONDAY: For sale: R.D. Jones has one sewing machine for sale. Phone 555-0707 after 7 P.M. and ask for Mrs. Kelly who lives with him cheap.

TUESDAY Notice: We regret having erred In R.D. Jones' ad yesterday. It should have read, "One sewing machine for sale cheap. Phone 555- 0707 and ask for Mrs. Kelly, who lives with him after 7 P.M."

WEDNESDAY Notice: R.D. Jones has informed us that he has received several annoying telephone calls because of the error we made in the classified ad yesterday. The ad stands correct as follows: "For sale - - R.D. Jones has one sewing machine for sale. Cheap. Phone 555-0707 after 7 P.M. and ask for Mrs. Kelly who loves with him."

THURSDAY Notice: I, R.D. Jones, have no sewing machine for sale. I smashed it. Don't call 555-0707 as I have had the phone disconnected. I have not been carrying on with Mrs. Kelly. Until yesterday she was my housekeeper, but she quit.
